Abstract

A systematic study of stress relaxation on stretching of materials based on polyethylene (PE) obtained by orientational crystallization, and of the original PE is described. With increase in the degree of stretching increase of the relative (and even more so the absolute) relaxational stress difference takes place, in spite of the enhancement of short-term properties. The relaxational properties of a range of oriented materials based on PE, obtained in different technological processes of orientational strengthening (orientational stretching, orientational crystallization, hydroextrusion, gel-technology, special pressure molding, and cold rolling) are compared. In spite of differences in the initial short-term properties, the materials have a close and high relative relaxational stress difference, both in the case of oriented and the original PE. The temperature region of the most rapid relaxation processes in oriented and crystallized PE is determined.
