Abstract

The structure of the dication 1 of the title compound is both surprising and unique. Complex 1 is formed from [Pd2(μ‐dppm)2Cl2] and the product obtained by reaction of [(Ph3P)CuBr]4 and TIPF6. The same dipalladium complex also reacts with [Cu(CH3CN)4]BF4 to give quantitatively 1 (BF4)2. The analogous diplatinum compound, on the other hand, affords A‐frame complexes (dppm = Ph2PCH2PPh2).
