Abstract

This work seeks to describe the phenomena of Chinese translations of Hispanic novels in Taiwan. Compared with literary works of opera, poetry and novel, Hispanic translations of novels are more successful in the Taiwanese market. Four aspects observed concerning Hispanic translations of novels are discussed in the present paper: a. the tradition of academic translators; b. appearance of professional translator ; c. indirect translation from English; d. translation from Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese. And for a greater clarity, we attach an appendix of both the Hispanic novels and their translations mentioned above with their original titles and titles translated in Chinese.
