Abstract

A disc-type brushless dc motor with double sided stator and twin rotors, called also a torus motor is a subject of the paper. A performance of this slotless version of the motor is significantly improved when the coils are put In the slots. In the paper calculation results of magnetic field, torque and EMFs found for slotless and two versions of the motor with the teethed stator are presented. The calculations were carried out in 3-D space using the OPERA program package. The simulation results are verified by the measurements carried out on the motor prototype.
