Abstract
The 3D magnetic field distribution is analyzed for disc-type, double-sided, permanent magnet, brushless DC motor with a toroidal stator core using the OPERA package with the TOSCA module. The electromagnetic torque is determined from the Maxwell stress tensor. Effective torque ripple reduction by appropriate permanent magnet dimensions is shown.
